Bezienswaardigheden in Den Haag.

Pier in Den haag, Scheveningen beach

Where to stay in Den Haag

On the day of arrival go to your hotel: hotel bries. In this perfect unique boutique hotel you can check in online with no reception. You just get a link trough e-mail and from there on you can enter your room. The hotel is nearby the beach and the center in a lovely neighborhood. You can order breakfast in your room, which I highly recommend. It’s from Anne&Max, a dutch coffee company.

How to get around

Getting around The Hague is relatively easy. The city offers a range of transportation like tram and buses. You can purchase on OV-card for both. Explore the city by bike or walk and enjoy the city’s sights at your own pace. We rented a scooter by the company Felix. You probably know the e-steps system where you can scan it and then drive it. Well it’s the same for the electric scooter. This was a fun activity to do, because I’ve never driven a scooter! The only thing you need is your phone and driver license. Download the app from Felix and drive around the beautiful city.

Things to do

Scheveningen beach and the pier

Do something adventurous and go surfing! Within a short ride from the city center there is Scheveningen beach. If your looking to sunbathe or enjoy water sports, this is the place. We took a surf class at heartbeach, this was so cool! Make sure you reserve your surfin lesson in advance. If your not the adventurous type, you should take a walk on the seafront and the pier.

Surfing in Den Haag, Hartbeach

Surfing in Den Haag

Het zwarte pad

Looking for a place to walk down the beach and watch the sunset with a nice glass of wine in your hand? We got this place from a local, who said this was more beautiful and unique. It’s actually right next to Scheveningen beach but on the right side of the pier. Here are more beach clubs for you to drink or eat and watch the sunset. This lesser known part of the beach was really worth the visit.

Mauritshuis

Go visit The Mauritshouse, this art museum has a collection of the Dutch Golden age paintings. Inclusive my favorite: The girl with the pearl earl by Vermeer. The museum is a work of art with its beautiful halls painted with fresco’s and gold wallpaper.

Binnenhof

Stroll around the lovely hofvijver pond and admire the medieval architecture in the heart of the Dutch politics at binnenhof. Here you can find also the Mauritshouse and the dutch parliament. From here on you can explore the city center very easy.

Where to eat and drink

Sababa

This place is the ideal place for a quick lunch with its delicious Sabach. Here you can find streetfood from the middle east, like falafel, schwarma and hummus. They also have vegetarian options like the aubergine kroket, wich is highly recommended!

Vicensco’s

If your looking for more comfort food, go to this lovely Italian restaurant. They have the best pizza’s in town, according to us. You can either sit inside with its calm interior or sit in front of the terrace. We arrived friday evening and it was close to our hotel so that came in handy.

Bouzy Prinsesstraat

If you’re looking for a nice glass of wine, we would recommend Bouzy Prinsesstraat. You can order a wine tasting menu offering a charcuterie plate. The wine selection is impressive and the staff is ready to recommend the perfect wine for you.
