Iceland hotels

The Aurora hotel: airport

To start off we chose the Aurora Hotel for a night of much-needed rest after a long flight. We landed at 11 am and the car rental was offcourse closed at this time. Also it was already dark so I didn’t wanted to drive at night in a country we didn’t know. This charming hotel provided a comfortable and clean atmosphere, allowing me to recharge and prepare for the adventures ahead. The food was delicious here, make sure you order the famous Skyr of Iceland.

Hotel Vik

A true gem situated along the black beach sand in Vik. This was a more luxerious hotel: the hotel not only had a fantastic restaurant but also an incredible view of the Icelandic coastline from my room. We spent three nights here while exploring the sights of the South Coast. Breakfast was included and was varied, from plain toast to Icelandic delicacies such as herring. Good for your hiking trip ahead! Looking to catch a glimpse of the northern ligths? The hotel has a wake-up call service! There is a lovely romantic restaurant inside the hotel, make your reservation ahead and enjoy a dinner. After dinner go watch the sunset or get up early and watch the sunrise. The black sand beach is astonishing and out of this world. Definitely worth it.

The Blue Hotel Fagrilundur

During our exploration of the Golden Circle, we discovered the Blue Hotel Fagrilundur. This affordable charming hotel offered a cozy vibe and a soothing hot tub to unwind in after a day of hiking. Across the street there was a restaurant that served the most mouthwatering pizzas I have ever tasted.

The Grandi by Center hotels

Next, we made our way to Reykjavik, the vibrant capital city. We stayed at the Grandi by Center Hotels, a delightful and lovely design hotel. It was located near the harbor, making it a perfect base for exploring the city center and enjoying the local cuisine. The hotel's restaurant offered a fine-dinning menu and had such a cool interior. So make sure you make a reservation here!

Silica hotel

A must-visit destination on any Iceland itinerary is the famous Blue Lagoon. We had the pleasure of staying at the Silica Hotel, a luxurious retreat nestled within the Blue Lagoon complex. This oasis of tranquility granted me full access to the lagoon in the hotel, allowing us to get in its mineral-rich waters whenever we desired. The experience was nothing short of magical and definitely worth booking in advance. Yes it is expensive, but it was worth it! See it as a once in a lifetime experience.
